Detox is the title of the currently unfinished final album by Dr. Dre. It was due for release in Autumn 2004, but was not then completed. There have also been rumors that the famous producer had completed the album some time back but was not satisfied with it, and instead sold the beats to former Aftermath Entertainment artist The Game. Dr. Dre wanted to concentrate on producing artists that were on his Aftermath label, such as 50 Cent, The Game, Busta Rhymes, Eminem, and Eve, which is why at one point he said he would no longer be working on the fabled album any more.
Aftermath signed artist Bishop Lamont tells people to "Look out for Detox" in "Up & Down" from his upcoming album The Reformation. Also, on the Dr. Dre produced track "Boss' Life" from Snoop Dogg's eighth solo album Tha Blue Carpet Treatment, Snoop Dogg makes reference to the Detox project with the line "if my nigga's detoxin' there's more for me". Also, on the track "We're Back" from the 2006 album Eminem Presents The Re-Up, Shady Records artist Stat Quo talks of recording songs for the LP.

Some details have emerged since the album's conception. The album's co-producer, Scott Storch, lists guest appearances by the following artists: Eminem, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Knoc-Turn'al, Lloyd Banks, Guvner, and The Game. Aftermath-affiliated producers such as Hi-Tek, Kon Artis, Nottz and Mahogany are also working with Dre for the album. Bishop Lamont said that he recorded vocals for some potential Detox tracks, and that Mel-Man has done some work as a co-producer. Billboard reported that Mike Elizondo has recorded bass guitar parts for the album. The MySpace account of Aftermath producer Dawaun Parker states that he will also be producing for the album. Sean Combs has stated that he has recorded vocals for two different tracks for Detox, and that at least one will make the cut. Jay-Z has also stated that he has worked with Dre for Detox.

In a December 2006 MTV interview, Eminem was asked if there is going to be a Detox album. His response was, "I can tell you that there is a Detox album in the works. Other than that, I've been trained not to answer. Perfection takes a long time.

UGK Album Pushed Back

Jive recording artist UGK’s long-awaited seventh album, U.G.K. Underground Kingz, has been pushed back to February 27, 2007 from its original December 19, 2006 release date.

The double set album features 26 new tracks by the Houston duo and lists production by UGK’s own Pimp C, Jazze Pha, Lil Jon, Swizz Beatz, Scarface, and Marley Marl, who produced "Next Up", featuring Kool G Rap and Big Daddy Kane.

The first official single, the Pimp C produced “The Game Belongs To Me,” has already hit the airwaves, with a video expected to be released at the top of the New Year.

UGK put the South on the map in 1988 with their first album release The Southern Way. Since then, the group has maintained a presence in the rap world with albums, mixtapes, indi releases and cameos on numerous prominent artists’ tracks. In 2000, they made a high-profile appearance on Jay-Z “Big Pimpin.” In 2005, Bun B released his first solo album Trill. The CD debuted at # 6 on the Hot 200 Billboard Charts, picked at # 1 on Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop album Chart and has been certified gold.

Pimp C released his solo album, Pimpalation, this past summer. The title debuted at # 3 on the Top 200 and at #1 on the Hip Hop and R&B Charts according to Billboard.
